Voip for the Home

VoIP is now becomming more and more popular in the home, as consumers are finding out the costs of VoIP versus landline technology. For any families that make regular and long demostic and international call VoIP can cut huge costs of their phonebill, and it is relatively inexpensive to setup. All you need for a VoIP connection at home is a broadband internet connection and a phone adapter which enebles you to call.

There are many VoIP providers out there that cater for the home user, with plans ranging from around $15 per month up to $50. They are varied in offers and functions, but most offer more than 500 minutes of domestic calls or unlimited calls. You also have the ability to keep your existing landline number so you will not have to update family and friend with it. The plans are quite similar to a mobile phone plan, with some providers giving you the VoIP phone adapter with a plan, and other requiring payment or a deposit.

VoIP does have some disadvantages to it, such as power or internet connection outages and poor quality over some lines. Because your VoIP connection does run through your broadband connection if you ever have a power outage or your internet drops out, your VoIP connection dies as well. This issue is being looked at by the providers because VoIP is still a relatively new technology, and if you ever get into an emergency you have to be able to call someone.

So for any home user thinking of using the VoIP technology you should look into it more, the costs are way cheaper to landline technology and with newer advancements will come better quality audio and more.
